Award Winning BBQ Turkey Recipe
Here is a very easy and simple recipe for BBQ Turkey legs. This dish is often overlooked because most of us only associate Turkey with Thanksgiving. However, turkey legs are fairly inexpensive and taste great Barbecued and grilled. You can find turkey legs at your local store. Always try to find fresh, if you must by frozen, make sure you thaw them slowly overnight in your fridge. Thawing the legs under water will water log your meat and ruin your flavor. Also, make sure you pick up all of the ingredients below. Follow these simple instructions and you will be on your way to a great turkey leg feast.
What you will need:
4 turkey legs
kosher salt – 1 teaspoon
black pepper – 1 teaspoon
garlic (fresh) 1clove minced
Italian dressing - ¼ cup
soy sauce – 2 tablespoon
mustard – 2 tablespoons
honey – 1 tablespoon
Marinate your turkey legs in the above ingredients for 3 hours. Let the legs get nice and moist. You may need to rotate the legs in your marinade every hour or so. Once your legs have been soaked, remove them from your marinade and set aside. Drain off any excess marinade from the turkey.
Get your grill nice and hot, and the lower your heat to a medium/high. Place your legs on the grill and brown thoroughly on all sides for 20 minutes. Once the turkey is starting to get crispy on the skin, brush your legs with some BBQ sauce. Continue to grill your turkey for another 20 minutes.
Remove your legs and finish in the oven at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove and place on a platter and drizzle some more BBQ sauce on top. Serve with your favorite vegetable and starch.
Enjoy!
Eat well
